Yarn Harlot Sighting!

It's true, she really does exist! She's even funnier in person. Now, being funny on purpose is a quality that I really admire in people, partly because I'm impaired when it comes to telling jokes, or stories, or what-have-you. My delivery is just not funny. (Except for the 2 jokes that I've practiced. Those I'm getting better at.)

Celebrity is a strange thing to me. I've always thought that meeting a celebrity would have a certain hollowness to it, because the importance to me would not be in proportion to the importance to them. I'd remember it always, and to them I'd be another face on another day. So I've pretty much avoided the whole thing. (Well, I've gotten Tonya Harding's autograph twice, but don't hold that against me.) But I couldn't pass up the chance to meet Stephanie Pearl-McFee. I just couldn't. And it was pretty much like that, except that we had so much in common! Well, knitting at least.

And I was too shy to tell her that I had a blog and wanted to be on her blog. D'oh! Regrets, regrets. And other people give her handspun and stuff, I could have at least done that.

The hiking sock hangin' with the local knitters and the Canadian celebrity:

It was either her or the sock in focus. I chose her.
And the meet and greet, with Wonky, Flyingpoodle, and the Yarn Harlot.

(I'm bending my knees in order not to tower over her.)

The turnout wasn't as big as I'd hoped, but probably 100 knitters or so! I saw some familiar faces from the Thursday afternoon group, and some faces I recognized from blogs. Like Jodie, and Fyberduck, but no, I didn't say hi. The competition for spots in the signing line was too fierce.

And the sock peek is the hiking sock for Hans to wear with his "Plus-fours".

Next time you have to say hi! Or next time I'll know what you look like, so I'll say hi.
